FLAMENCO GUITAR

Flamenco, often thought of as Gypsy blues, is native to several regions of Southern Spain. But in true gypsy fashion its origins are influenced by the Byzantine, Sephardic and Moorish cultures, to name a few,  passed on by word of mouth and family members. Today’s flamenco guitarists are most often formally trained while  still keeping it intense and passionate with the threat of wild abandon, no mean feat considering how technically hard it is to master.

When you think of Flamenco music the flamenco guitar comes immediately to mind, often accompanied by clapping and stomping. Los Angeles Flamenco guitarists for hire often infuse their music with the sounds of Jazz, Salsa, and Bosa Nova. The sound can include flutes, the saxophone and keyboards.

The Gypsy Kings are generally credited with bringing Flamenco music to the mainstream and as a result many of our Los Angeles Flamenco guitarists for hire use the Gypsy Kings in their repertoire. It is not uncommon to hear many of our most popular songs done in Flamenco style, such as Hotel California or Sting’s lovely ballad Fragile.

Rossi Music works with a wide variety of  Los Angeles Flamenco musicians with their own unique styles and influences ranging from Argentina, Mexico, Spain and even Louisiana Blues. On Wednesday evenings you can see one of their finest flamenco guitar duos at the Hotel Intercontinental between six and ten.
